Volunteering for Adaptive Adventures Challenge Tour 2014

Nicole Osweiler, Buyer Specialist for the Denver Luxe Team, was humbled and inspired by her volunteer participation with the last ride of the summer for the Adaptive Adventures Challenge Tour at Bear Creek Lake Park on October 4th.  This all-day annual event, formerly called Jam The Damz, is a great opportunity for cyclists of all ages, abilities, and experience levels to socialize, have fun, and get active.  Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to raise money for individuals with disabilities wanting to achieve their dreams of learning to cycle, climb, kayak, scuba, ski, and waterski.

Each rider is asked to obtain sponsors for the race and the money raised directly supports Adaptive Adventures’ mission.  For the event, riders can choose from 10k, 50k, 70k, and 100k courses that stretch out from Bear Creek Lake Park and utilize the wonderful southwest Denver area bike paths, complete with some awesome views throughout the ride!  A post-race BBQ for riders, their families, friends and supporters — including live entertainment and great food — tops off the event.

What a great organization and great people!  Nicole had such a fun time helping to set up the course and acting as Court Marshal for the race.  The event was inspiring and amazing to watch the heroism of people of all ages bike riding on such a gorgeous day in sunny Colorado.

The motto of the tour says it all: “We ride for a reason, we challenge ourselves, and we thrive in the adventure of it all.”
